here at aeki, we are committed in giving back to our community especially the vulnerable and underprivileged group. this initiative is very dear to my heart as i work closely with amputees daily. every year, around 134,000 Malaysians need prosthetic or orthotic devices (WHO, 2005). among them, only 10% are able to get access to prosthetic legs while 65% of them are B40 and asnaf (Malaysian Journal of Medical Sciences, 2017).

to the underprivileged amputees, it is more than just 'losing a leg'. they lost their will to live, their source of income and some lost their families. this is when i realized, a prosthetic leg might not be the ultimate solution, but it is surely one of the ways to reduce their burden. a below-knee prosthetic leg could cost up to RM5000 to RM10,000 depending on its complexity. most of the amputees could not afford to fork up that huge amount of money and some felt very ashamed to apply for financial aid.

this is when i joined Feet4Life movement as we work together in providing free prosthetic legs to asnaf/B40 amputated patients. to date, they have been able to help more than 200 asnaf amputees getting free prosthetic legs and more than 200 patients in Malaysia are able to walk again. as i am sharing this, i am proud to include you all in this journey and make all your purchases count.
